Your data stays yours
AI analysis runs only on data within your school's account. Staff at other schools cannot see it, it is not shared across schools, and it is never used to train AI models. Where a record is restricted — child protection status, for instance — the assistant respects that restriction in its answers too.

Common questions
- What can I actually ask it?
- Anything you would otherwise work out by hand from your own records — how many incidents were recorded last term, which students have more than five incidents, how many concerns in a given category since January, or which incidents this year involved social services. For anything broader, deep research produces a full written report.
- Can it see other schools' data?
- No. The AI assistant can only access data within your school's account. It cannot see records from other schools or reach information outside Signal.
- Is our data used to train AI models?
- No. Your school's data is never used to train AI models, and all processing is carried out within Signal's secure infrastructure.
- Who can use the AI assistant?
- Staff with the Owner, DSL or Deputy DSL role. Child protection status is excluded from answers given to anyone below Deputy DSL.
- Does it make decisions for us?
- No. AI in Signal is designed to assist, not replace professional judgement. Every suggestion is a recommendation for you to review, and you always make the final decision.
