The dashboard is the first thing you see when you log in to Signal. It brings together everything that needs your attention in one place — mentions from colleagues, alerts, draft incidents, upcoming reviews, and more.

Dashboard sections

My Mentions

When a colleague @mentions you on a student incident, it appears here. You can see how many unread mentions you have at a glance and click through to the relevant incident.

My Alerts

Notifications triggered by your school’s alert rules appear here. For example, if a rule alerts you whenever a Physical incident is logged, you will see those alerts in this section. You can dismiss alerts individually or clear them all at once.

My Drafts

When staff email safeguarding concerns to your school’s dedicated Signal email address, those emails become draft incidents. Drafts appear here for you to review, complete, and publish. Use the copy button to grab your school’s Signal email address and share it with staff.

Upcoming Reviews

Action plans that are due for review in the next 30 days are listed here. Each review shows a badge indicating whether it is overdue or due this week, so you can prioritise accordingly.

Pending Monitors

Active monitors that need a check-in appear here. These are scheduled check-ins attached to action plans, helping you stay on top of ongoing student support.

Quick Stats

At-a-glance counts give you an instant picture of your school’s safeguarding landscape — total students, total staff, unread mentions, unread alerts, and pending transfers.
Staff Mentions and Staff Alerts also appear on the dashboard, but only if you have the Owner, DSL, or Deputy DSL role. These work the same way as student mentions and alerts, but relate to staff incidents instead.
The dashboard includes shortcuts to common actions, such as creating a new incident or viewing your school’s policy documents. These save you navigating through menus for the tasks you perform most often.

Tips for using the dashboard effectively

Make it a habit to review your dashboard at the start of each day. This ensures you do not miss any mentions, alerts, or overdue reviews.
Once you have reviewed and acted on an alert, dismiss it to keep your dashboard tidy. This makes it easier to spot new items that need your attention.
Share your school’s Signal email address with all staff. Emailed concerns arrive as drafts on your dashboard, making it quick and easy for anyone to flag a safeguarding issue without logging in.
The Upcoming Reviews section highlights overdue action plan reviews with a badge. Prioritise these to ensure your intervention plans stay current and effective.
The Quick Stats section is a useful starting point for your morning check — a sudden spike in unread alerts or pending transfers can tell you something needs immediate attention.
